Gratitude Goes Far Beyond Just Thanksgiving
We often feel a sense of gratitude and thankfulness around the time Thanksgiving approaches. As we gather around the Thanksgiving table and express our gratitude with our loved ones, we can forget that gratitude is an emotion that should be expressed all year round and is not exclusive to the holiday season.
Marie Kondo and the KonMari Method™ are built on the foundation that 1) our belongings should bring us joy and 2) if they do not spark joy, it is best to let them go with gratitude so that they can go into the world to do their job too.
This Thanksgiving and holiday season I encourage you to take this feeling of thankfulness and apply it to everything cherished in your life. By making a meaningful connection with the items we hold most cherished, we can truly live in a state of thankfulness which goes far beyond our Thanksgiving holiday.
So I ask you:
If you cherish your home, thank it.
If you cherish your job, thank it.
If you cherish your family, thank it.
When we can recognize the relationship with our belongings, we can easily let them go without guilt. And when we let them go, I encourage you to thank you items for the service they provided and embrace gratitude. As this philosophy is applied to our belongings, it can also be applied to the people and places in our lives. The people and places we no longer need can be thanked and let go of without guilt.
This November, I have much to be thankful for. I am filled with gratitude as I welcome a new chapter to my journey as a Certified Master KonMari Consultant - the highest-ranking of Marie’s consultants.
I am feeling:
Gratitude to live in an area that values the intentionality of the KonMari Method™.
Gratitude for the clients I have been able to share with and teach this life-changing method to.
Gratitude for corporate entities that encourage employees to practice decluttering.
As the awareness of KonMari continues to spread, I look forward to greeting the many new clients, presentations, non-profits, and workshops waiting ahead of me. Thank you to all who have been a part of my heart-felt journey.
As we continue our way through the end of this year, I encourage you to keep gratitude in your heart for all the wonderful times, hardships, and new beginnings that are yet to come.
Happy Thanksgiving.
